In the last two decades, China has become one of the countries with the fastest aging population, which takes up more than 18% of the population of 1.4 billion, according to the seventh national census in 2021. And as a mega cosmopolitan city, Shanghai is also one of the cities with the fastest aging population in China, with the population of people over 60 takes up 35% of its 25 million residents.
